business advocacy at municipal, regional, provincial, & federal levels

Advocacy is at the core of what we do. As the unified voice of Revelstoke businesses, we represent our members’ interests on the issues that matter most to the business community. By communicating the needs of business to different levels of government, we influence policies, regulations and decisions that are critical to creating a favourable environment where businesses can succeed and flourish.

Our Advocacy Committee and sub-committees meet regularly to asses advocacy-related issues and to preliminarily determine if advocacy topics are relevant and appropriate to pursue on behalf of the Chamber membership. Click here to read the Terms of Reference.

Canadian Chamber Policy Resolutions

Every year, the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce actively participates in the national policy resolution process alongside other Chambers of Commerce and policy committees. We represent the interests and concerns of our membership by engaging in debates that address issues of national importance. This process culminates in a democratic vote at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce AGM & Convention, where adopted resolutions shape the advocacy agenda for the coming year. Our involvement ensures that Revelstoke’s voice is heard on the national stage.

Do you have an advocacy issue?

The Chamber can advocate on your behalf. The process is as follows:

The Executive Director can bring the issue forth to the Chamber’s Advocacy Committee. The Committee makes a recommendation that is brought forth to the Board of Directors. The Chamber Board of Directors will vote on whether they agree that this item warrants advocacy to the governing body or decision maker. If the vote passes, the ED will draft up a letter to be submitted to the applicable authoritve figure. It gets approved by the Board and sent to Council.

If business name would like to pursue this process, we would ask business name to submit a letter to the Chamber with the following details:

  • What is your desired outcome?

  • Who have you spoken with to date so far? Name of the contacts

  • Please submit supporting communications to provide the Board of Directors with background information.

  • Please have the letter signed by the person who represents business name.
